My Favorite Poet

One of my favorite poets right now is BANKS. BANKS is a musical artist who experiments with a variety of sounds including R&B, alternative pop, and indie-pop. She is my favorite artist/poet right now because of the versatility of her sound. Although BANKS has a distinct R&B sultry theme throughout her songs, she tends to experiment with a lot of different topics and sounds that make her albums really interesting to listen to. One of the things I recently learned about her is that she wrote a poetry book with original poems and her sketches. I really like how she experiments with different media because you can tell she is true to her art and she puts her passion into everything she does. She also does a lot of self-reflecting in her songs and you can see the growth in her personality and musical style by comparing her old songs to her more recent songs.
One of my favorite things I like about most musical artists in general is that they stay true to their sound. Although it’s really easy to stray away from their style and their distinct passion to make a sound that is cut and paste from the template of a hit pop song, they continue to put thought and passion into their work, and BANKS does exactly that. Another element of music that is often overlooked is the music videos that accompany songs. Although there are only a few BANKS music videos, the ones that she has created are well done and allow for many interpretations. It also doesn’t hurt that her songs are thought-provoking yet catchy in a distinct way. Overall, BANKS is a well-rounded and versatile artist that has well-written songs.
